Over the years I have dried out many many basements from either sewer back ups, water lines freeze and break or hot water heaters just reaching the end of their lives.
If you don't want me to have to come dry out your house after you just got from vacation or a long work trip their are a few simple safety precautions you can take and they are: If you have a toilet that is running' fix it. If you main sewer line is older and has to be "rooted out" regularly a running toilet could back it up when your not home and come back to a pool in your basement. If you have indoor plumbing at all the simplest prevention that I had personally never even thought about but after cleaning for a local plumber I discovered is simply to turn off your water supply line on the in side of your house where if comes through your basement wall. That simple 10 second turn of a valve can save all sorts of headaches and heartaches. See Ya next time, Brian Asher [email protected] or www.kansas-city-carpet-furniture-cleaning.com

I did a job last week that inspired this post. I am typically in 3-5 homes a day and see lots of strange things. This isn't a David Letterman style top 10 list so don't expect to read about something you had in your home.
This is more a general warning or heads up to any one that has some sort of home service provider in your home. Of course I am honest and my customers have grown a custom to that but not all home service providers are. Think of all the different people you have in your home that you don't really know in a years time. Why put your self in danger or tempt some one in your home. So what you should do any time you have some one you don't really know in your home just do a quick walk about of your home. Put away all jewelry, cash or any other object that could easily fit in a technician's pocket or tool box that might temporally go un-noticed. I cant tell you how many times I have seen men leave their wallet with cash hanging out of it laying on their dresser or jewelry on night stands or jewelry boxes. Don't risk losing some family heir loom by simply forgetting or not thinking about it. [email protected] www.kansas-city-carpet-furnitur |
